On Sunday night, five people were killed by gunmen in Plateau State’s Bokkos Local Government Area.

According to locals in Jos on Monday, between 7 and 7.30 p.m., terrorists on motorcycles who had been initially driven back by the military from the nearby mountains attacked the victims, who were mostly young people, as they were traveling from Mbar town to Koh village along a bypass encircling Yelwa Nono village.

This was announced in a statement released in Jos by Ambassador Duwam Bosco, the secretary, and Farmasum Fuddang, the chairman of the Bokkos Cultural Development Council Vanguard.

“Despite earlier intelligence reports of suspected terrorists’ influx into the area,” the statement states, “We wish to condemn in the strongest terms the tragic killing of five innocent young men in Mbar Community on September 15.”

In the statement, it is stated that between 7 and 7.30 p.m., terrorists on motorbikes who had been first driven out of the surrounding mountains by the military ambushed the unarmed teenagers as they were traveling from Mbar town to Koh village along a bypass that surrounded Yelwa Nono village.

The terrorists had finished their purpose and had left without being apprehended by the time the security forces learned of the incident and arrived on the scene a few minutes later.

“This tragedy is part of a string of armed attacks in our communities, which also includes the September 3 murder of 11 youngsters in the villages of Tarangol, Daffo, and Bargesh.

In the meantime, after bandits raided a church service on Sunday in the Bakinpah-Maro town in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, thirty more people are reportedly missing and three persons are thought dead.

The previous chairman of the Kajuru Local Government Area, Cafra Caino, acknowledged the occurrence and stated that thirty people had been kidnapped, although the police authorities had not yet spoken.

He claimed that an ECWA and a Catholic church were the targets of the terrorists, who arrived in considerable numbers at around 10:00 am.
