Dr. Akinsola Jimoh, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, has encouraged over 600 of his supporters to align with the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the state’s governorship election on November 16.
At an event on Sunday at St. Pius Catholic Field, Jimoh, the PDP House of Assembly candidate for Okitipupa Constituency 1 in the general election of 2023, formally joined the APC.
Prominent figures from the APC in the state attended the event, including Pastor Segun Aiyerin, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry; Alhaji Amidu Takuro, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Chris Ayebusiwa, a member of the House of Assembly representing Okitipupa Constituency 1; Igbekele Akinriwa, the APC chairman in Okitipupa Local Government; and Abiodun Owonola, the Acting Chairman of Ikale North Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who welcomed the defectors, stated his happiness that Jimoh and his allies had decided to join the APC.
Assuring Jimoh and his supporters of recognition and support inside the APC, the governor, accompanied by Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs Amidu Takuro, expressed hope regarding Jimoh’s potential to contribute more to the party in the state as a grassroots politician.
He urged everyone to turn out in large numbers on November 16 to support the APC and the governor, pointing out that the election will validate the Aiyedatiwa’s efforts in every area of the state.
After careful consideration and discussion with his friends and supporters across the nation, Jimoh announced his decision to join the APC, stating that he was adamant about joining the ruling party for the sake of the state’s advancement.
