Governor of Zamfara State Dauda Lawal has assured that with the collaboration between the Federal government and his administration, the popular bandit leader Bello Turji will be killed very soon.
The Governor who stated this while in a conversation with the Channels TV politics today insisted that killing Bello Turji the popular bandit leader will reduce the level of the danger attached to banditry.
Mr. Lawal says, if the military pressure is sustained on the bandits within two weeks to one month, the story in Zamfara will be a different one.
The Governor affirmed that there is a level of connection between banditry and artisanal mining in Zamfara State.
He also insisted that there should be a synergy between the state government and that of the Federal in the areas of mining, since mining is on the exclusive list while the land belongs to the state government of Zamfara.
He argued that as Governor he does not have a comprehensive list of the miners in Zamfara; hence he argued that there was a time he confronted the Minister of Mines to tell him how much the Federal government is earning from mining in Zamfara which he could not answer.
He insisted that if the Minister has responded to his inquiry he could have asked for his share of the money.
Governor Dauda also stated that he has already signed an executive order banning all forms of mining activities until when proper arrangements are made in how both parties are to benefit from the earning.
