Rabiu Kwankwaso, the New Nigerian Peoples Party’s presidential candidate in the general elections of 2023, has donated N50 million to help the Maiduguri flood victims.

During Mr. Kwankwaso’s tour of sympathy to the government and people of Borno State, he gave Governor Babagana Zulum the check at Government House Maiduguri.

As Borno was still getting over the Boko Haram situation, Mr. Kwankwaso called the water disaster brought on by the fallen Alau Dam as one catastrophe too many.

He prayed for the dead to rest in peace, injured people to heal quickly, and property loss victims to regain their lost possessions.

In response, Zulum thanked Kwankwaso for his continued assistance to the government and the Borno people during difficult times. He assured that the donation would be used to support the affected individuals and families in rebuilding their lives after the devastating flood. Mr. Zulum also expressed his gratitude for the solidarity shown by Kwankwaso and emphasized the importance of coming together as a nation in times of crisis.

Zulum gave him his word that the money would be used wisely to benefit the intended recipients as much as possible.

Remember that between 2011 and 2015, when the state’s insurgency was at its worst, Kwankwaso, the governor of Kano State, sponsored 100 orphans from Borno State to attend school there.

During Kwankwaso’s visit, Abba Kawu Ali, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, and Buba Galadima, three NNPP chieftains, accompanied him.
