Some suspected armed bandits blocked the popular Mayanchi-Anka highway in Zamfara on Monday morning.
The scenario according an eyewitness occurred at around 9:00am when commuters mostly civil servants who are returning to Gusau from their weekend were frustrated from moving to the state capital.
The road links people coming from Zuru axis of Kebbi state, Gummi and Bukkuyum who most pass through Anka local government to access the capital city of Zamfara Gusau.
A commuter from Gummi Umar Gidado who made a posting on his verified Facebook page alerted travelers along the road to be careful of the presence of some suspected armed bandits who blocked the road from Mayanchi to Anka.
In a telephone interview, he told this medium that soldiers mounting the road in Anka stopped them from moving on the ground of the fact that bandits had blocked the road.
He informed this medium that they spent close to forty minutes before the road is cleared for them to pass.
He also stated that it took the military time to provide escort for the travelers to be able to pass through the danger zone to continue with their journey.
He said the road has been cleared after effort by the military soldiers.
