Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) numbered in the hundreds, and they stormed the streets of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, warning against the decision to hold the local government election on October 5.

The protesters argued that the timing of the election was not conducive due to ongoing security challenges in the region. They called for a postponement to ensure a free and fair electoral process.

The participants held up signs and gathered at the PDP Secretariat in Port Harcourt before marching along Azikiwe Road towards the Government House. It was reported that security patrol vans and heavy machinery were stationed to keep an eye on the protest. The protesters demanded that the government prioritize the safety of residents before proceeding with the election. The demonstration drew attention from local media outlets and raised concerns about potential unrest if the election were to proceed as planned.
