A three-day conference of Muslim monarchs, clerics, and Islamic scholars in Yorubaland, Edo, and Delta is scheduled for October 7–9 in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. Among the dignitaries expected are President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and Oba Sikiru Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebuland.

The objective of the conference is to foster harmony, comprehension, and harmonious cohabitation among Nigerians, irrespective of their religious associations.

The head of the conference’s media committee, Sheik Taofeek Akewugbagold, told reporters in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, that the conference will give important Islamic leaders and stakeholders a forum to talk about important issues impacting the Muslim community and the country as a whole.

In his view, the presence of these powerful individuals highlights the significance of interfaith communication and cooperation in tackling Nigeria’s problems.

He added that the conference is a crucial step towards strengthening ties between religious and community leaders, which will ultimately contribute to Nigeria’s progress and development. He stated that the trio’s presence, as a symbol of togetherness, will generate a sense of hope and cooperation.

According to Akewugbagold, the conference will help close the divide between Islamic scholars, Imams, and all Muslim monarchs in the Southwest. It will also analyze the local and global root causes of conflicts that arise within and between different Islamic organizations’ sects in an effort to resolve a number of issues.

He added that the conference will organize a special prayer for Tinubu in hopes of receiving guidance towards regaining the nation’s lost glory and peace. He also mentioned that the conference will explore ways to preserve the honors and legacies of the great Islamic scholars of the past and present, both alive and dead, for their contributions to the development of Islam.

Despite the country’s current economic difficulties, Grand Chief Imam of Ogbomoso land, Imam Yunus Ayilara, urged Nigerians to maintain composure and have faith in President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms.

He called for Muslims to back the government’s efforts to revive the economy, emphasizing that growth as a nation depends on shared responsibility and cooperation.
