The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed two explosions in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, on 5 October 2024. The first explosion occurred at the All Progressives Congress Secretariat on Aba Road, while the second struck the Obio/Akpor Local Government Secretariat just outside the city. The explosions occurred almost simultaneously, with police units responding swiftly. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Anti-Bomb Squad were mobilized to both locations. An improvised explosive device was recovered at the APC Secretariat, and the team identified the use of incendiary materials in the arson of the security building. The Anti-Bomb Squad collected samples for forensic analysis, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators. The public is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
