The Independent National Electoral Commission in Nigeria has revealed that 295,603 permanent voter cards have not been collected yet, and 17,705 ad hoc staff and 11,799 security personnel will be engaged for the upcoming November 16 governorship election. Resident Electoral Commissioner Oluwatoyin Babalola stated that the commission is fully prepared to ensure a free, fair, and credible election.

Additionally, we are hiring 17,705 ad hoc workers at all levels in preparation for the election. Before the election, the oath of neutrality would be given to 11,799 security personnel in total.
Additionally, the REC announced that on Thursday, October 17, 2024, another round of PVC distribution would get underway.
In order to fulfill their civic obligations, she asked everyone to pick up their PVCs at the specified locations throughout the state.
Beginning at the Registration Area level on October 21, 2024, this activity will last all weekend. PVC will be distributed daily between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. in each of the state’s 203 RAs. It will then continue at the Local Government Area level from October 23 to October 29, 2024. The PVCs will be dispersed among the 203 Registration Areas in each of the state’s 18 LGAs at specially designated collection centers.
As you may remember, the commission started a Continuous Voters Registration campaign on May 27, 2024. 58,708 new voters were registered in the state by the completion of the exercise, representing a considerable rise in the number of registered voters.
The REC revealed, “In addition, 3,132 voters moved their registration into and within Ondo State, and 123 voters moved their registration within and outside of Ondo State.”
On election day, she urged the people of Ondo State to turn out in large numbers to peacefully exercise their right to vote and support the development of Nigeria’s and the state’s democratic processes.
The head of INEC said, “They should note that their votes will count.”
