Katsina state government has ordered for the closure of all the private health training institutions in the state.
The government says the measures become necessary considering the proliferation of such health training institutions that are not duly registered by their regulatory bodies.
Katsina state commissioner for health Musa Adamu Funtua stated that they have discovered a lot of these health training institutions that are operating illegally.
He said a committee will be set up to assess those that fulfil the basic criteria and those that do not.
Nigeria has experienced a massive increase in the establishment of health training institutions in Nigeria, majority of whom do not meet with the basic requirements for their establishment.
A few months back Kano state government has ordered for the closure of similar institutions for not meeting the minimum requirements.
MEASURES PUT IN PLACE BY KATSINA GOVERNMENT
Special Adviser to Katsina Governor on Health matters Mal. Umar Mammada said the institutions would remain closed until investigation is concluded.
He also requested the institutions affected to present before the committee all the necessary documents related to approval they secured in establishing these institutions.
On how to secure the students of those institutions that have valid approvals in order not waste unnecessary time, the Commissioner for health assured that the committee’s job had started and will not take much time to present its report for action.
He added that the decision became imperative considering series of complaint lodge against those institutions.
Governor Umar Dikko Radda had set up a committee to assess these health training institutions under the leadership of his Special Adviser Mal. Umar Mammada.
