Governor Bello Matawalle said he has gone to Bakura late evening of Thursday with the intention of getting Zamfara former Governor arrested for attempting to breach the existing peace enjoyed by the people of Bakura in the name of electioneering campaign.
Governor Matawalle who declared this during a Press Conference on Thursday in Gusau said he will not fold his hands and allow some heartless politicians to drag Zamfara state and it’s people in the unnecessary crises because of personal political ambition.
Matawalle said he has to do all that is possible to ensure that peace has been restored in Zamfara State especially that the security challenges confronting the state are caused by the non challant attitude of the former Governor saying, Yari is not happy with the progress recorded in the security management of the state.
Governor Matawalle further said, if what Abdulazeez Yari has been boldly saying that PDP has never won election in Zamfara State is true why is he asking the national headquarters of his party to deploy the Governors of Kogi, Jigawa, Kebbi, Kaduna and Deputy Governor of Kano State, five Senators of the Federal Republic and house leader Ado Doguwa to aid him wins election.
He said what he expected the former Governor to do was to allow the people of Bakura to decide in between the PDP and APC since as a Governor he did not requested for help from the PDP headquarters and the people of Bakura should have been allowed to decide the faith of the election.
Governor Matawalle also wondered why Yari declared to the media that, Bakura has been the strong hold of the APC since 1999 noting that such statement is not true since he personally won his election as member representing Bakura-Maradun at the Federal House of Representatives in 2011 under the platform of the PDP.
He accused the former Governor of misleading APC Governors in the name of contesting for National Chairman of the party saying the Bakura bye election will be used to convince the entire world that Abdulazeez Yari is not on ground in Zamfara State.
