The Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 10 Headquarters Sokoto AIG Muhammed A. Mustapha mni has announced the suspension of the APC grand rally scheduled to hold in Bakura on Thursday for what he described as threatto security of lives and properties of the people of Bakura constituency.
The AIG who made the declaration during a media briefing at the Bakura Police Station said the supporters of the two major political parties the APC and PDP were well armed ready to caused breakdown of law and order.
He said one person was killed yesterday and another one was killed today and there are strong indications that more crises are being ignited if the political rallies are allow to go on.
He noted that, police will not allow its primary responsibility of securing the lives and properties to be hijacked by some mischief makers who are not interested in sustaining the relative peace enjoyed by the people of the state.
The AIG further said, police and other sister security agencies will meet with all stakeholders to dialogue on the possible ways to ensure that the scheduled bye election has been conducted without any breach of law and order.
He called on the people of Bakura area to remain law abiding hence security situation is worked ahead of the Saturday’s scheduled bye election. 000A
