Patriot for the Advancement of Peace and Social Development a non governmental organization led by its Chairman who doubled as the former gubernatorial candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA in the 2019 general elections Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi has called for the re-arrest of former house of representatives member Abdulmalik Zubairu Bungudu and two others over alleged plots to disrupt public peace in Zamfara State.

This follow the dramatic events that ensued between the Zamfara APC faction led by former Governor Yari and State Police Commissioner Usman Nagogo after the arrest of one of the political ally of the former Governor Abubakar Dantabawa Gada.

Bellow is the full text of the press statement issued by the group
………..,……..,………….,………………..,……..,…..
September 15th, 2020
The Inspector-General of Police [IGP]
Louis Edet House,
Area 11 Garki Abuja

Sir,
UNCOVERED PLOTS TO DESTABILISE ZAMFARA STATE

Intelligence report available to us have uncovered plot by some factional members of the All Progressives Congress [APC] in Zamfara State loyal to the immediate past Governor Abdulaziz Yari to breach the existing peace the good people of Zamfara State are enjoying presently.

There is an evil plan to disrupt the peace restored by the administration of Governor Bello Matawalle, that initiated peace and alternative dispute resolution with the deadly armed bandits in the state for the past one year.

Bloodletting, killings, kidnapping, armed robbery, displacements and wanton destruction and displacement of people from their country homes, cattle rustling has drastically reduced to the barest minimum in all the nooks and crannies of Zamfara State.
The uncovered plots to destabilize the state sponsored by the factional leaders of the APC loyal to the immediate past Governor of Zamfara State in the last one year.

The findings by the Government’s intelligence reports and security agencies indicate that the factional leadership of the APC in the State was inciting some repented armed bandits to denounce the peace and reconciliation accord initiated with the Zamfara State Government and cause mayhem. This is not the first time that the enemies of the state attempt to cause crisis in the state, as it would be recalled that a few weeks ago, a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdulmalik Zubairu (Zannan Bungudu) sponsored hoodlums in Bakura during the APC House of Assembly bye-election primaries which led to the destruction of properties worth millions of naira and many innocent citizens were injured.

He was arrested along with the hoodlums but was later granted bail by the police authorities. These desperadoes will throw our state into a senseless crisis which would result in the destruction of lives and state assets if the security agencies refuse to act quickly and be on red alert to nip the bud any attempt to cause crisis in the state, bust crimes and deal decisively with anybody caught fomenting trouble no matter his status or party affiliation.

We call on Inspector General of Police not fold his hands and watch disgruntled and desperate politicians most of whom are frustrated elections losers to disrupt the peace Hon. Bello Matawalle government has laboured so hard to restore, and bring back the lost glory of the state. Therefore, the security agencies should be on the red alert to arrest the ugly situation before it degenerates into a full-blown crisis.
The administration of Governor Bello Matawalle has been called times without number to examine the role of bitter politicians in the complexity of the escalating rate of armed banditry in the state.  Inspite of the unpararalled efforts of the governor in bring lasting peace to the state in the last one year.

Pockets of armed banditry attacks, kidnapping, armed robbery  and cattle rustling has continued to persist across the fourteen (14)  Local Government of Zamfara State . Upon intelligence report, the governor once had cause to issue a stern warning to former Governor Abdulazeez Yari against inciting upheavals whenever he visited the state. For those who thought Governor Matawalle has been political with the issue, it has now become crystal clear that the hands of bitter politicians are at work against finding a lasting peace from the menace of banditry and other criminality which before held sway the coming of the Matawalle’s administration.

It is on record that in the past eight years over 6,313 people were killed, while over N2,805,407 billion was paid as ransome as 25,050 children were orphaned and 6,483 women became widows. Over 1,500,000 million livestocks were rustled, while many houses, cars, motorcycles and assorted grains were destroyed.

With these atrocities committed in the past eight years of the Abdulazeez Yari administration in Zamfara State we don’t want to go back to the days of darkness and economic backwardness.

The security operatives have found indisputable evidence of the Former Abdulaziz Yari  close political associate  Alhaji Abubakar Dantabawa in glaring secret meeting with recalcitrant  bandits [thanks to the CCTV cameras installed by Matawalle] and was under extensive investigation before he was released due to pressures from high quarters.

Zamfara State has been peaceful since the inception of the Governor  Hon Bello Matawalle administration, normalcy has returned in the areas which was taken over by armed  bandits in the last eight years, farmers have returned to their farmlands across the state, we should be grateful to the Governor Hon Bello Matawalle government for the peace initiative while the government should in return expect maximum civic cooperation from the citizenry and not breakdown of law and order.

Some members of the APC were heard opening threatening to take the laws into their hands amid several threats to the peace in
Zamfara State according to the video clip which is hereby attached “the useless and stupid government of Zamfara State, the Commissioner of police is nicknamed the PDP Chairman of Zamfara State. If the government at the center cannot look at the plight of the members  of  APC in Zamfara State we are going to take the laws into our own hands” He is war drums this is a time bomb waiting to explode if the security authorities doesn’t act very fast in curtailing any breach of security.

Please, find video clips here attached where one Hon. Salisu Isah is calling on APC members in the state to take laws into their hands.

We demand the immediate re-arrest, investigation and possible prosecution of Sarkin Fulani Chede , Alhaji Sani Gwamna Mayanchi , Abubakar Muhammad Dantabawa and Hon Abdulmalik Zubairu (Zannan Bungudu) over allegations of incitement and plots to disrupt the public peace.
Accept the assurances of my highest esteem.

Alhaji (Dr) Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi
Chairman,
PATRIOTS FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF PEACE AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
