Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle of Zamfara state is considering the option of establishing of community policing across the state.
Speaking during a Sallah homage to the emir’s palace in Maradun his country home after the Eid el fitr prayers, Malawalle said, the idea of community policing was aimed at improving the security situation across the state.
He said under the new arrangement, 50 persons would be engaged in each of the 17 emirate of the state.
According to him, government would give them necessary training and uniform to perform effectively.
Matawalle urged people of the state support the community policing arrangements with aview to over coming the security challenges facing the state.
He expressed concern over the resurfacing of banditry attacks and promised to crush the miscreants.
