RE : YOUR LIBELOUS PUBLICATIONS AND CHARACTER ASSASSINATION OF HIS EXCELLENCY ABDULAZIZ YARI ABUBAKAR; REQUEST TO CEASE AND DESIST ALL FORMS OF DEFAMATION, SLANDER OF CHARACTER AND REPUTATION.
Dear Femi Fani Kayode,
We are solicitors to Engr.Abdullahi Abdulkarim Tsafe, the chief of staff to His Excellency on whose behalf and full instructions we write concerning the above subject as hereunder.
You are hereby notified to cease and desist any and all further unlawful defamation, slander and /or libel against His Excellency Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar with regards to your actions and/ or statements relating to the incident on the 15th of May 2020 in which the following defamation, slander /or libel occured, which is aimed at impunging and/or tarnishing the hard earned integrity of His Excellency.
You are well aware that in accordance with the Nigerian law, it is illegal to provide a false statement, whether written or oral, of an individual’s character and/ or reputation, which,
1. Consists of any false statement, pictures or video intended to cause harm or damage another’s character and / or reputation.
2. Is communicated to another either in writing or verbally and
3.The offending party is aware or should have been aware that such statement, pictures or video was false.
TAKE NOTICE THEREFORE, you are hereby requested to immediately CEASE and DESIST the illegal acts of defamation, slander and/or libel of His Excellency Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar and shall within 10 Working days, issue a public apology on three National daily Newspapers(The Daily trust, Thisday and The Nation).
2.Return the signed written assurance below affirming that you will refrain from any further acts of the said defamation, slander and / or libel with regards to His Excellency Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar’s character and/ or reputation.
Failure to comply with the above directives and /or request, we will be left with no other alternative than to pursue all available legal remedies including a rigorous legal proceedings before the relevant court of law to claim damages thereof, which you may be unpleasant with.
