Zamfara State government has concluded plans to establish 80 number of refuse dump centers in Gusau the capital city of Zamfara aimed at ensuring that, Zamfara remain clean and healthy environment for living.
The state Commissioner for Environment and Solid Minerals Development Dr. Nurudeen Isah disclosed this at an interaction with the news men in Gusau the state capital.
The Commissioner noted that, mapping of these refuse Collection centers has already commneced by his ministry adding that, as soon as the exercise is over, erection of these refuse dump centers will commence.
He further explained that, his ministry will soon secure brand new trucks for the evacuation of the refuse dumped at these centers adding that, the ministry will continue to monitor and sanction those who refuse to use the designated centers while dumping their refuse.
On the attitude of those dumping refuse in the drainages, the Commissioner noted that, his ministry will not hesitate to sanction anybody who defies the instruction of the ministry especially in blocking drainages for selfish reason.
He added that, his ministry is considering the option of commissioning a mobile court to convict violators of the new order to be instituted by his ministry.
He assured that, more drainages will be constructed to prevent some major high ways in Gusau from errosion.
Dr. Nurudeen added that this initiative will soon be extended to the remaining thirteen local government areas of the state.
