The Chief Imam of Kwangwami Jumuat Mosque Malam Liman Auwalu along side one Hamisu Bako were gunned down by suspected armed bandits on Monday.
According to the resident of the area who spoke to this medium, the bandits riding over dozens of motorcycles stormed several farmlands at the Kwangwami village and started shooting sporadically.
He explained that, the sound of the gun shots triggered fear amongst the local people who took to their speed and run for their safety.
He added that the Chief Imam was hit by a stray bullet while the other deceased was shot dead at his farmland.
He also said the suspected fulani bandits moved with hundreds of their cattle and destroyed many farmlands especially the location where dry season farming is taking place in the area.
The funeral prayers of the two victims was conducted around 2:00pm on Monday by dozens of other residents who returned after armed military officers were deployed to the area.
Zamfara State Police Command Public Relations Officer SP Shehu Muhammad confirmed the incident and told this medium that armed police tactical operatives have been deployed to trail the culprits assuring that normalcy has since been restored.
Kwangwami is a town under Moriki Emirate Council of Zurmi local government area of Zamfara State.
