Zamfara State Government says it has retrieved the sum of N700 million naira unaccounted pension funds since the inception of the current administration.
Governor Bello Matawalle who made the declaration during the celebration of 2021 workers day in Gusau on Saturday said, all workers with zero balances would be identified and get their contributions remitted.
“So far, we have refunded all the retrieved funds we met to the contributors. As a result of the efforts of the legislature in conjunction with the Pension
Commission, all monies deducted from workers
would be refunded between now and the month of
June 2021”.
The Governor said, “when I assumed office in 2019, we met only 932 million naira out of over 2 billion naira retrieved from pension fund administrators by the immediate past administration”.
Matawalle also alleged that, “in contravention of the law and moral principles, the previous government used the remaining amount to settle the severance benefits of certain political
officeholders”.
