Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle has expended a total of 1.4 billion naira in reconstructing the state house of assembly complex as part of his effort to strengthen their legislative activities.
In a statement by the Governor’s Director General of Public Enlightenment, Media and Communication Malam Yusuf Idris Gusau said, said the Governor promised to sustain the mutual working relationship with the legislative arms of the government.
The Governor who spoke at the official inauguration of the new house of assembly edifice on Wednesday in Gusau said the project cost the state a total of N1,403,011,985.89.
Idris said the house edifice which was commissioned by Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masaru has among other things an administrative block, house chamber, committee rooms, restaurant, filling station, clinic, mosque, and wall fence.
“Matawalle, a one time federal legislator said the provision of the modern assembly complex in the state was necessitated in realization that the lawmakers were housed in dilapidated structure and the need to provide for them a serene environment that would give them the much-needed atmosphere and state of mind to provide laws most benefit to the teeming population of the state” Idris added.
“According to Idris, “for the House to effectively perform its legislative and oversight functions, it is vital that a conducive working environment is provided which commissioning is part of a series of events packaged to commemorate the 2nd anniversary of the Bello Matawalle led administration in the state”.
Governor Matawalle thanked Aminu Bello. Masari for accepting the state invitation and for inaugurating the new office edifice, noting that as former Speaker he knows the value of having a conducive working environment for the lawmakers.
The Governor charged the state legislators to redouble their efforts to come up with effective legislations that will further improve the wellbeing of Zamfara people.
