Zamfara State Police Command has announced the unconditional rescue of (187) victims abducted by suspected armed bandits in Rini village of Bakura, Gora in Maradun, Shinkafi and Sabon Birni in Sokoto state.
Police Spokes Person in Zamfara SP Shehu Muhammad who announced this via a statement issued to newsmen in Gusau on Thursday said, the rescue of the victims was part of the effort put in place by the police and other security agencies in securing the state since the adoption of the new security measures.
He said the victims were rescued through a rescue and search operation by the police tactical team in collaboration with other security agencies.
According to Shehu Zamfara Police commissioner Ayuba Elkana handed over the victims to the Secretary to the State Government who was accompanied by many officials of the state government.
Shehu further said the police Commissioner informed the state government delegation that the new security measures instituted by the state have been yielding positive results since many abductees have been rescued and reunited with their families.
He further said many bandits and their collaborators have been arrested noting that majority of them have been charged to court while others are undergoing investigation.
Shehu further said, the CP has assured the people of Zamfara State that police under his watch would continue to put in their best to ensure that peace has returned to Zamfara state.
The Secretary to the State Government Kabiru Balarabe in a remark, thanked the police and other security agencies for their resilience and assured them of the state government readiness to making sure that they are supported in all directions.
