Gunmen operating along Shinkafi-Moriki-Kaura Namoda road had on Wednesday caused a major casualty that resulted in the death of many people and destruction of properties of innocent commuters plying the road.

According to details posted by Sardaunan Shinkafi on his personal Facebook page which he also confirmed to this medium, he said they succeeded in attacking (15) vehicles during the Wednesday operation and set (5) ablaze.

He further reported that, they have abducted many passengers from these vehicles and moved away with them to an unknown destination.

He also reported that they have attacked drivers of (3) Volkswagen cars used in conveying dried trees, killed both the drivers and their aides.

He further said they have masterminded the crash of a heavy truck conveying local potatoes, leading to the destruction of the entire commodity conveyed.

He also reported that, in the same operation they have opened fire on a “Sharon” vehicle conveying passengers from Shinkafi to Gusau a circumstance that resulted in many passengers sustaining various degrees of injury.

According to Sardaunan Shinkafi the bandits insisted that their action was as a result of the refusal of the government to open Shinkafi livestock market.

He also lamented that lack of conventional security operatives along the road was the major factor behind their successes, as only vigilante operatives were seen on the road conducting operation.

Zamfara police command could not be reached for comment as at the time of filing this report.
