The Chairman House Committee on appropriation, Hon. Shamsudeen Hassan Basko has accused officials of state ministry of finance of illegal allocation of funds to MDAs.
Hon. Basko, a certified and chattered accountant alleged that, series of irregularities and misappropriation had been uncovered in the ministry of finance especially payment of more than what is appropriated to some MDA’s.
According to him, investigation would be carried ou to verify the true situation of the matter.
“In order to avoid apportioning or trading blames, the committee will invite both the ministry of Budget and Economic Planing with its counterpart of finance sometimes this week to ascertain the true situation of events with the two ministries before passing the bill into law”, he added.
He said this year’s budget is focusing not only a realistic but also a revenue enhanced one so that government will have other source of funding the budget.
The committee chairman wondered why the chairman of the authority refused to appear before the committee, saying, it is a clear contempt to the legislative institution in the state.
