Some suspected gunmen have invaded Nasarawar Maifara in Tsafe local government area of Zamfara state where they killed twenty-five people.
A source who spoke to BBC hausa said, earlier than the attack in Nasarawar Maifara, the bandits had enforced a peace-for-fine of (N40M) which the people of the community have paid.
He said, surprisingly, after paying for the fine they invaded the community on Wednesday and killed twenty-five people.
The most worrisome part of the whole thing was after the attack they frustrated our effort of picking the dead body of our relations for burial.
“We dragged with them for long before we could conduct burial for those killed in the attack”
“We have lodged our complaints on the authorities and all those that matters, but it seems no one is responsive to our demands and agitations” the source added.
Reacting to the story, police spokesman in Zamfara SP Shehu Muhammad informed BBC Hausa service that the police Commissioner together with the brigade commander of the Nigerian army and commissioner for security and home affairs have visited the community to commiserate with them.
He assured the people of Zamfara that police are working tirelessly to ensure that peace and stability has returned to Zamfara state.
He added further that the IGP has mobilized more police operatives that are to support the security operation in the state.
