Speaker of Zamfara state house of assembly Nasiru Muazu Magarya has declared that, contrary to the allegations by one of the aides of the state Deputy Governor Mahadi Aliyu Gusau the state assembly under his watch receives only (N60M) as monthly cash allocation.
Magarya who spoke through his media aide Mustapha Jafaru Kaura said, out of the sixty million naira each member receives a total of (N2M) as cash allocation to support activities in his constituency.
He noted that it was unfortunate that, the PPS to the Deputy Governor went to the media to release figures he could not defend noting that the remaining part of the sixty million naira is used to pay salaries of casual staffers and ensure maintenance of the official vehicles of the house including that of Speaker and his principal officers.
Magarya said, it is not the amount of money given to the house of assembly or any agency of the government that matters but how the money is spent and the purpose they were used for.
Concerning the plan impeachment of the Deputy Governor, Magarya said, section 188 (10) of the Nigerian constitution 1999 as amended has empowered the state house of assembly to commence impeachment process of the Governor or Deputy Governor and that the PPS should have wait until the panel is constituted by the state Chief Judge before he started crying.
Magarya added that the earlier invitation sent to him is not connected with the process of impeachment but rather inquiries into some allegations raised against him which are in accordance with the provisions of sections (128) and (129) of the Nigerian constitution 1999 as amended.
He said the court order he was referring to has nothing to do with the plan of impeachment since the constitution of Nigeria is clear.
