Speaker of Zamfara state house of Assembly has urged the members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) to suspend their planned peaceful protest scheduled for April 1st 2022 over unresolved labour matters between them and state Government.
According to a letter written by the Deputy Clerk Muhammad Aliyu dated 31/03/2022 with reference number ZMHA/LEG/032/VOL.1/16 a copy obtained by this medium stated that, the Speaker promised to mediate and report progress to the leadership of the unions within two weeks.
It could be recalled that the leadership of the Zamfara NLC has written a letter to the Speaker of the state house of assembly with reference number NLC/ZSC/ADM/RALLY/VOL 1/23 dated 30th March 2022 notifying him of their intent to proceed with their planned peaceful demonstration against the state government on the 1st of April 2022.
Part of the agitation by the Zamfara NLC included non implementation of (N30,000) minimum wage, delay in the payment of monthly pension to retirees, non settlement of the backlog of gratuity among other things.
It could also be recalled that, the NLC has paid a courtesy visit to the state Deputy Governor where they sought for his intervention over labour crises between them and the state government.
