Sound of gunshots continue ringing the air at around 9:30 while the majority of the residents of Jangebe town in Zamfara were yet to retire to bed.
Jangebe is a town under Talatar Mafara local government area of Zamfara state and it closely shares border with Anka local government and Kanoma town in Maru local government.
According to a source, at around 9:30pm on Tuesday while many people of the town were yet to return home the gunmen in their large number entered the town and started shooting sporadically.
The sound of gunshots which lasted for over an hour has scared many people who were not clear whether the gunshots were for the gunmen or the conventional security forces stationed in the town.
But he said later, they realized that, bandits were all over the town of Jangebe and people quickly went indoor for their safety.
The source said, the gunshots fired resulted in the killing of two people while two others were critically injured, and they have been admitted at a health facility for treatment.
The source said the gunmen also moved away with large bulls of cow belonging to one Alh Nagwari who is a resident of Jangebe area.
Effort to reach the state police spokesperson SP Shehu Muhammad was not successful as at the time of filing this report.
