Some suspected political thugs had mistakenly molested one of the INEC National Commissioner Prof. A. A. Zuru after suspecting him to be the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for Adamawa Mr. Hudu Yunusa.
The incident occurred after Mr. Hudu Yunusa unilaterally announced the APC gubernatorial candidate for Adamawa Sen. Aishatu Dahiru Binani as the winner of the gubernatorial rerun election conducted on the 15th of April 2023.
The angry political thugs while searching for the Resident Electoral Commissioner got rid of one of the National Commissioner for INEC Prof. Abdullahi Zuru who was in Adamawa for a National assignment.
According to findings by this medium, Prof. Abdullahi Zuru resembled the Resident Electoral Commissioner and thereafter they went after him and molested him recklessly.
In a video footage that went viral on social media, the image of Prof. Abdullahi Zuru was shown almost necked while being conveyed inside a vehicle.
INEC National headquarters Abuja through a statement issued on Sunday by one of its National Commissioner Festus Okoye, the commission condemned the act of inhumanity against its National Commissioner and promised that it is taken steps appropriate to get to the root of the problem.
It has also declared the action of Hudu Yunusa of declaring the winner of the governorship poll in Adamawa as null and void.
According to a video footage of one of the security operatives arrested, he was quoted saying, the Resident Electoral Commissioner was allegedly paid N2b naira to make the purported declaration of Mrs. Binani Aisha Dahiru.
