The arraignment of the suspended Emirs of Zurmi and Dansadau could not hold as scheduled on Wednesday due to some technical problems.
They were brought before the state magistrate court presided over by Justice Sa’ad Gurbin Bore by the state government on charges to be read to them on Thursday.
A lawyer to the two Emirs, Barr. Ahmad Kwatarkwashi said by tomorrow the state counsels will move on to proceed with the arraignment while defense team led by himself are also ready to start the matter.
It could be recalled that in June 2021 the state government announced the suspension of the two monarchs on allegations of having connection with armed banditry.
The state government set up committees led by the former Deputy Governor of Zamfara Malam Ibrahim Wakkala and another one led by Rtd DIG Mamman Tsafe the current Commissioner for Security to investigate the allegations and report back to the state.
Since June 1st and 11th 2021 nothing was heard of the committee, nor it’s report as claimed by some family members of the two monarchs until today when they were brought to the magistrate court for arraignment.
