The All Progressive Congress (APC) jointly with Governor Bello Matawalle had written a letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) demanding for the review of the declaration made in respect of the 2023 governorship polls conducted in the state
According to an acknowledged copy of the letter signed by U. O Sule (SAN) a copy which was issued to this medium, the party and its gubernatorial candidate are alleging that the declaration of the PDP candidate as the winner of the 2023 governorship election is a complete negation of the electoral act and other extant rules guiding the conduct of the election in Nigeria.
They stated in the letter that a winner should not emerge from the Governorship election conducted in Zamfara hence (85,062) votes were cancelled across the state while the lead of margin was put at (65,750).
They also raised concern that the INEC went ahead to declare a winner of the governorship polls when election is yet to be conducted at them for Registration Areas of Birnin Magaji with a total number of (46,000) registered votes.
On the Maradun issue, the APC and its gubernatorial candidate expressed wonder why INEC rejected a collated result of Maradun local government where APC polled (95,506) to defeat the PDP who scored only (618) votes and instead use alternative data from the server to declare the result of the local government .
They urged the commission to exercise its powers as contained in section 65(1) of the electoral act 2022 (as amended) by reviewing its decision in the declaration made.
