Former Governor of Zamfara state and currently an APC national chairmanship aspirant, Dr. Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar said uniting members of the party is his top priority, especially if given the opportunity to lead the party.
Yari expressed this on Thursday in Abuja during this year’s APC Press Corps 2nd Annual Lectures /Summit with Theme: “APC Beyond 2023, Tasks Ahead: The Role of Stakeholders”
Disclosing his progressive instinct ideas towards moving the party forward in preparation for the 2023 general elections, Dr. Abdul’aziz Yari said ensuring unity and peaceful coexistence of the party’s clutches would be his top priority, should the mantle of leadership of the party is transmitted to him in the upcoming February national convention.
According to former Governor Yari and immediate past Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, he would rise to resolve all issues around the party by using internal mechanism, saying that all pending court cases shall be withdrawn to serve as yardstick for reconciliation purposes.
He further explained that, as a party man who started his political career from the grassroots, and among the eleven people who gave birth to APC of today, will be very proud to lead the party beyond the 2023 elections.
” The Theme for the 2021 lecture is very important and timely, especially at this crucial time when people’s perception is that, APC will not stay after the expiration of President Muhammad Buhari’s tenure”, he said.
” I want the organizers of this event to think of staging a similar event that will bring, Ministers, Governors and all other critical stakeholders of the Party together and chart for a new course”, Yari added.
