One of the Sokoto state lawmakers Hon. Aminu Boxer has alleged that Isa and Sabon Birni areas where the major bandit camps are situated have been removed from the special operation conducted by the military.
The lawmaker who spoke to Nasir Elhikaya in an audio clip sent to this medium said after the departure of the presidential delegation from Sokoto the federal government has fulfilled its pledge of sending a powerful squad of the military personnel to conduct special operations against the bandits in Sokoto.
He added that they came with sophisticated weapons including armor carrier tanks but noted with surprise that Isa and Sabon Birni have been removed from the special operation of the military.
“All the deadly notorious bandits including Halilu, Nabokolo, Turji are operating along Isa and Sabon Birni axis of the state, so it is surprising that these areas have been removed from the list of where the military operations shall be conducted”.
He added that few days after the conduct of their operations another village called Mai kujera in Rara area of Sokoto was attacked by the bandits and eight people were killed noting that their funeral prayer has not been conducted.
“They have moved away with valuables in Rara village, and they moved to the house of District Head of Illela and abducted five girls and four men from the relations of the member of the state house of assembly Bello Isah Ambarura few hours after police paraded some suspects in Sokoto”.
“In a two months time if the federal government failed to fight these bandits with all sense of reality time would come when there would be nobody in Isa and Sabon Birni because people would surely run away” he added.
All the notorious bandits are there in Isa and Sabon Birni and unless the government extended the genuine fight against the bandits in these areas the social crises may not end.
When asked why Isa and Sabon Birni was excluded, Boxer said, some security agencies informed them that because there are soldiers already deployed in the areas, noting that such excuse could not work since the insecurity in the areas has not subsided.
He noted further that it was with the same security enforcement bandits invaded Kurawa, Anguwan Lalle, Magarau, Sangerawa and many places and killed many people.
