Suspected armed bandits have invaded Yanbuki town in Zurmi emirate of Zamfara State and killed scores of people.
A source who spoke to newsmen said, immediately they arrived in the village they opened fire on anyone sighted and considering their large number, residents became skeptical and run away for their safety.
We have conducted the burial of (7) people who lost their lives to the attack in Yanbuki”.
The source added, “they have been ransacking houses room by room throughout the night, burgled shops carted away goods and food stuffs belonging to the residents of the area”.
On the number of livestock rustled, the source explained that, “they have rustled over (500) cows, and over (1,500) sheep plus many other valuable goods they have stolen.
He added that since when the telecommunication network was seized, it was the second attack launched by the bandits in Yanbuki area
When contacted, Zamfara police Spokesperson SP Shehu Muhammad confirmed that, the command is in the receipt of the security threat in Zurmi area and that the state police commissioner has already deployed seven operation vehicle full load of armed police men aimed at ensuring that peace has returned to the area.
