National Support for Youth Awareness Forum NASYAF, Comr. Awal Imam and Hamisu Samaila had dragged Dr. Dauda Lawal to the Federal High Court Gusau seeking for declaration on whether the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Zamfara Dr. Dauda Lawal shall not be disqualified to contest the 2023 Governorship election on the ground of submitting several names to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The Plaintiffs through Barr. Ibrahim Ali had approached the Federal High Court seeking for the declaration on the ground of irregularities detected in the credentials submitted to the INEC by Dr. Dauda Lawal which contained various names.
Barr. Ali on behalf of the plaintiffs seek for a declaration that, the 1st Dauda Lawal submitted false information in his nomination form Code PD003/G Serial No: 00694 obtained from the INEC for 2023 gubernatorial election in Zamfara state regarding the true name of Dr. Dauda Lawal in view of the several names contained in the educational certificates and affidavits of Dr. Dauda Lawal submitted to the INEC.
He is also asking for declaration from the court that Dr. Dauda Lawal bears and uses several names in the educational certificates and affidavits submitted to the INEC together with his nomination form Code PD003/G Serial No:00694 obtained from the PDP for gubernatorial election in Zamfara state come 2023 regarding his name to suit changing environment.
He is also seeking for an order disqualifying Dr. Dauda Lawal from contesting the 2023 Governorship election in Zamfara state on the ground of submitting false information in the nomination form, educational certificates and affidavits to the INEC.
He is also seeking for an order of perpetual injunction retraining the INEC from publishing or further publishing the name of Dr. Dauda Lawal as the Governorship candidate of the PDP in Zamfara state come 2023.
He is also asking the court to issue any other relief(s) to which the plaintiffs may found entitled to by the Hon Court.
The suit according to the copy obtained was filed on the 7th of November 2022 and the plaintiff’s counsel is awaiting the date fixed for the matter to come up proper for mentioning in the court.
