There was a serious panic and pandemonium among students of Federal College of Education Gusau (FCET) as movement of vigilante operatives near the school caused many of the female students to scamper for safety out of the college premises.
The provost of the College Dr. Umar Bello who spoke exclusively to this medium said, some women who were working on the farm noticed some vigilante operatives moving on bike along the neighbouring Mareri area and started running toward the school environment shouting “bandits”.
Their reaction caused confusion as some students became scared and started running toward the main road, a circumstance that caused serious confusion in the entire college.
“I can assure you there is no record of bandit coming into the college but some women who became scared of the movement of the vigilante operatives caused the whole confusion, and we have stabilized the whole situation”
The Provost further said, as a result of the confusion, he quickly called for an emergency internal security meeting where the security situation was reviewed and measures were instituted to further strengthen the security and safety of the college.
“Our students that resides in the campus have been mobilized back to their hostels and more security personals have been deployed to take charge of the security of the area”.
He said later the Governor and state Commissioner of police already paid an assessment visit to the college and assured them of maximum support to ensure that the safety of the students is granted.
