FRAMEWORK FOR SUSTAINABLE PARTNERSHIP: SIGHTSAVERS INTERNATIONAL MEETS MEDIA PRACTITIONERS IN KANO.

Sightsavers an International non-governmental organization working in Nigeria has organized a two-day media partners capacity building in Kano with the sole aim of engaging the media practitioners on the better way to support their activities.
The participants were drawn from various government owned and private media organizations from Kaduna, Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina and Zamfara state.
The capacity training which is taking place at Chilla suite and apartment Kano had the country head of the organization, Dr. Sunday Isiyaku and some of his team members In attendance.
In an address of welcome, Dr. Sunday Isiyaku informed the participants that the media practitioners were selected to allow for a mutual engagement which will help boost the image of the sightsavers and the activities they are conducting in Nigeria.
He implored the participants to make use of their existing platforms to raise awareness among Nigerians about the activities of the sight savers and also create more windows that sightsavers can support to enhance its public outreach.
The technical sessions would cover aspects of disability rights, disability inclusion, story telling on eye health, disability stories, open conversation between officials of sight savers and media participants as well as better way of reporting sightsavers activities.
Several other sessions would also be conducted to enlighten the participants about some of the neglected tropical diseases (NTD) and what sightsavers is doing to assist Nigerians to have them eliminated.
The session would also allow the participants and sightsavers officials to draw a sustainable framework for the partnership.
The meeting starts on Monday the 21st of August 2023 and will last through Tuesday the 22nd of August 2023.
