Governor Bello Matawalle has formally inaugurated the release of digital certificate of occupancy to citizens of Zamfara state.
The initiative is part of the recent reforms championed by Zamfara Geographic Information System, aimed at linking Zamfara to join the committee of developed states in geographic information system.
Governor Matawalle who led the formal inauguration said, the new initiative replaces the old order of issuing analogue certificate of occupancy to the citizens of the state.
He said the registration and collection of the new digital certificate has been made a mandatory to all the citizens of Zamfara state that owns landed or housing property.
The Governor said the new initiative will help enhance security and monitoring of properties by both the owners and government by extension.
He further said, the new initiative will help in managing crises on land and housing properties as well as ease the issue of transfer of properties and also strengthen the state database on landed and housing properties.
He added that, the initiative will help in the state government effort of fight against armed banditry since records of ownership would be available for the government.
In an address of welcome, the Special Adviser to the Governor on ZAGIS Yahaya Musa Waziri thanked the Governor for the drive to digitalization noting that, the new initiative will help secure land and housing transaction and also enhance transparency.
