The executive secretary of Zamfara Contributory Pension Commission Mansur Mustapha Kaura has declared that, Governor Bello Matawalle has paid retirement benefits to (859) civil servants that have retired from active service in two years.
The executive secretary who declared this during a TV show programme of Thunder Blowers Tirka-Tirka on Sunday said, the payment to this category of senior citizens of the states cost the state (N3.414) billion naira.
He also added that the Governor has paid death benefit to (215) persons worth (N1.103) billion naira and also paid (156) contract civil servants their benefit worth (N154.372) million naira.
Mustapha added that in two years of the current administration, the Governor has invested about (N4.6) billion naira to the payment of gratuity and death benefits.
This, he said, is different from the monthly payment of Pension to the retirees without failure.
“We knew of some states that are unable to pay pensioners for many months, but in Zamfara we have never failed in paying monthly pension despite the economic and financial crisis facing the state”.
“In four years of Abdulazeez Yari 2015-2019 he has committed only (N400) million naira in the payment of gratuity to the retirees, but Matawalle has paid over (N4) billion naira in two years 2019-2021” Mansur added.
