GOV. BELLO MATAWALLE RECEIVED FEDERAL COMMISSIONER IN CHARGE OF REFUGEES, PLEDGES TO DO MORE FOR IDP’s

Governor Bello Matawalle has renewed his commitment in strengthening partnership with the National Commission for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons to resettle the victims displaced by the ongoing social insecurity in the state.

The Governor who gave the commitment when he hosted the National Commissioner for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Person Hajiya Iman Suleiman at the state government house Gusau on Sunday said, his administration would continue to support vulnerable people by improving their standard of living amidst growing security challenges faced by the state.

In a statement by the Governor’s Spokes Person Malam Yusuf Idris Gusau, the Governor assured that, his administration through the Ministry for Humanitarian Affairs would partner with the Commission to make sure that all displaced communities have been resettled.

He stated further that the humanitarian activities of his administration are developed to carter for the plight of the internally displaced persons who are affected by armed bandit activities.

He also renewed the commitment of his administration in protecting the lives and property of the citizens of the state.

He commended president Muhammadu for giving Zamfara State special attention in the construction of IDP’s resettlement city that is accommodating persons with special concern.

On her part, the National Commissioner, Hajiya Iman Suleiman Ibrahim said she was in Zamfara State to flag off the distribution of relief materials to the state IDPs and to intimate the Governor of her commission’s preparedness to commence construction work of resettlement city that will be utilized by all persons with concern, especially the IDPs.

Hajiya Iman Suleiman further said that the resettlement city is part of President Muhammadu Buhari’s pilot scheme that will be started in Zamfara, Katsina, Borno and Edo States with a view to reducing hardship on families that were affected and displaced by the current security challenges.

During the visit, Hajiya Iman Suleiman Ibrahim presented certificate of recognition to governor Matawalle over his continuous effort in the protection and assistance to Internally displaced persons.

SEN. YARI DONATES (13) TRUCKS OF MAIZE TO PEOPLE OF TALATAR MAFARA

Former Governor of Zamfara state and Senator representing Zamfara West, Hon. Dr. Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar (Shattiman Zamfara) has secured (13) trucks of Maize containing (3900) bags for distribution to his immediate community of Talatar Mafara.

The distribution is to be handled by the (11) man committee headed by Malam Hamza Abubakar.

A total of 68 communities consisting of 21,075 households will benefit with a total of 3900 bags of Maize.

According the chairman, the beneficiaries cut across religious devices as instructed by the donor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar.

According to the committee Chairman, former Governor Yari has considered the social condition of the people emanating from the removal of fuel subsidy by the current administration.

He assured that, the committee will be just and fair in the discharge of their duties.

He called on people to give them maximum support and cooperation in the discharged of their duty in order to achieve the desire success.

(31) PEOPLE DIES, (274) SUSTAIN INJURIES IN ADAMAWA ROAD CRASHES.

The Federal Road Safety Corp Adamawa state command has revealed that a total of (31) people died as a result of various road crashes within the state.

The statistics also showed that, a total of (274) people also sustained various degree of injuries as a result of the road crashes.

The Adamawa sector command also recorded (126) various road crashes involving (548) passengers within the period under review.

The statistics covered a period of January to July 2023.

The sector commandant of the state, Mr. Yelwa Dio when he interacted with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He attributed the road crashes to over-loading, over speeding and making telephone calls while driving.
