Suspected gunmen armed with deadly weapons attacked Kwaren-Ganuwa village in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara state and killed two mobile police officers.
According to a source, the gunmen attempted to invade the community as a way of taking revenge against the people of Kwaren Ganuwa for rustling their cattle.
But the mobile police officers engaged them in a gun battle, after which two of them were shot dead.
The two officers whose names were not made known hailed from Taraba and Kaduna state respectively.
Though they were unable to kill or kidnap anybody in Kwaren- Ganuwa the source said the bandits moved to a nearby village called Musawa in between Kwaren- Ganuwa and Danjibga where they abducted twelve persons.
The source said the local government Council Sole Administrator has already arranged ambulance for themovement of the dead bodies to their respective country homes.
Zamfara police command could not be reached for comment as at the time of filling this report.
