Suspected armed bandits have invaded residents of Magazu community in Tsafe local government area of Zamfara State in what appeared to be a reprisal attack and killed one household named Alh Garba Shago.
A father of over ten children, Shago was shot dead by the gunmen after chasing away dozens of other local farmers from their respective farms at the early hours of Sunday.
According to a source, Abubakar Lawali Magazu who spoke to this medium on phone said, the crises between the bandits and people of the community started when the bandits over-powered a herder who rears cattle for the locals and rustled over 90 cows on Saturday.
He said when members of the community heard about the development they went to the bush searching for their livestock and when they sighted a Fulani boy rearing another sets of cattle they seized them in alternative to their own that were earlier rustled by the suspected bandits.
Noticing how dangerous their decision may be, Tsafe divisional police office instantly demanded for the release of the seized cattle from the locals and moved them to Tsafe police station for safe keeping.
He said the bandits became aggrieved and invaded the community in the early hours of Sunday, chased away people from their farmlands, killed one person and abducted two others.
He noted that, later during their operations, military and police engaged the bandits and succeeded in chasing them away from the community.
According to him the number of cattle earlier rustled by the bandits are up to ninety while the ones seized from the Fulani herder were closed to sixty.
