MOBILE POLICE OFFICERS ON SPECIAL DUTIES IN ZAMFARA CRIES OUT OVER NON PAYMENT OF OPERATIONAL ALLOWANCES FOR EIGHT(8) MONTHS
Police mobile operatives working on special duties in Zamfara State have cried for help as they insisted that they were not paid their operational allowances for eight months.
One of them who spoke to BBC Hausa service on Sunday lamented that, since their deployment to Zamfara they have been sent to the forest conducting operations under very difficult condition without being paid their allowances by the authorities.
He said the government is not providing food and any logistic to them and that nobody cares about their condition in the forest, noting that they were abandoned to their destiny.
When asked about payment of their monthly salary since their deployment to Zamfara he said, “They used to pay us our monthly salary but as for allowances earmarked for us nobody cares to ask if at all the money reaches us, even if government claimed it has paid us, the money did not reach us yet and this is eight months now”
“When we put intense pressure they now brought out money and started paying N20,000 per Police mobile officer and not all of us are paid, especially those operating within the forest”.
“Even the N20,000 naira they have started paying not every mobile police officer on special operations got paid, I am lucky to get my payment of the N20,000 naira but the majority of those working with me were not paid” the source added.
We are calling on the federal and state governments to come to our rescue and pay us arrears of our of eight month allowances to motivate us.
We used to contribute money from our salary and settle the expenses of any one of us who is either killed or get any problem we have lost about three of our colleagues and we have to contribute money to donate to their families for burial.
