The Chairman of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Zamfara state Dr. Mannir Bature Tsafe said the level of decay in the state health facilities has reached a level that, none of health facilities in the thirteen local government areas of Zamfara has the facilities to offer neonatal care to patients.
Dr. Bature who declared this during a stakeholder’s meeting in Gusau on Wednesday said, the condition of facilities at the level of General Hospitals except in Gusau the capital city has become a source of concern that government need to be serious and invest heavily on that aspect.
He also lamented that despite human resources deficit, the indigenous medical students who are currently undergoing their studies in various health institutions have not been paid their allowances for five months.
He explained that in some states, medical students are being given automatic appointment letters even before their graduation so that they can be retained to serve their communities, noting that the state need to emulate this types of strategies.
