OVER (70) VILLAGES OF ZAMFARA ARE UNDER THE RULE OF ARMED BANDITS: GROUP ALLEGES
Zamfara Circle Community Initiative has alleged that from January to August 2021 armed bandits have killed over (300) innocent souls across the fourteen local government area of Zamfara State.
In an exclusive interview with the BBC Hausa service, the group alleged that over (70) villages in Zamfara are under the control of armed bandits within this period under review.
They cited reference with the Birnin Magaji local government where they boldly said, except at the council headquarters, no community in Birnin Magaji is under the control of the security agencies instead bandits take charge of the management of the entire villages.
Part of the conditions set up by the bandits in these villages include banning people from using personal telephones, restricting visitors from coming to the villages and paying money by the residents before going to the farms.
He said their group had compiled names of over (300) persons killed with their updated data and date which they were killed.
He added that, Zamfara circle has written between eight and ten letters calling the attention of Zamfara State government of the inherent dangers attached to the security challenges faced by the state and also recommended major solutions.
