Zamfara Police Command has confirmed the abduction of 73 students of Government Day Secondary School Kaya in Maradun local government area of Zamfara State on Wednesday.
The Police Image maker SP Shehu Muhammad who gave the confirmation in a statement issued to news men in Gusau on Wednesday said, the abduction followed the invasion of the school by large number of armed bandits which occurred at exactly 11:00am .
Shehu said the command led by CP Ayuba Elkana has since deployed a search and rescue team which was mandated to work in synergy with the military to ensure that the students have been rescued safely.
The CP further appealed to the Public, especially parents and relatives of the abducted students to exercise patience and continue to pray for the successful ongoing rescue operation.
He assured that parents and relations of the abducted students would be intimated with up-to-date information regarding the effort of the government in rescuing their abducted children
