RESURGENCE OF BANDITRY: ZAMFARA STATE GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN (3) LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCILS

Zamfara state government has announced the shutting down of three local government council area of Anka, Bukkuyum and Gummi.

The decision was as a result of the resurgence of fresh armed bandits attacks along the area which resulted in killing of dozens of innocent people as well as kidnapping for ransom.

In the statement which was signed by the state Commissioner for Information in Zamfara Ibrahim Magaji Dosara, the state government had also announced the shutting down of seven major weekly markets in the state.

The state Governor Bello Muhammad Bello Matawalle chaired an emergency security council meeting where issues related to the resurgence of fresh armed bandits attacks on several communities of Zamfara were discussed.

The security council of the state recommended that, these new security measures be enforced so that security forces can enhance to take further strategies that will bring an end to this mayhem.

Other communities shutdown by the state include, Yarkofoji, Birnin Tudu, Rini, Gora Namaye, Janbako, Faru, Kaya, Boko and Mada villages. The state also shutdown Danjibga and Bagega markets

Other sensitive roads closed by the state government of Zamfara include: Colony to Lambar Boko Road, Bakura to Lambar Damri Road, Mayanchi- Daki Takwas to Gummi Road others are Daki Takwas to Zuru Road, Kucheri- Bawaganga – Wanke Road, Magami to Dangulbi Road and Gusau to Magami Road.

“Government is saddened and worried about the resurgence of the activities of bandits and the recent killings of some innocent people in Gusau, Tsafe, Gummi, Bukkuyum, Anka Bungudu, Maru, Maradun and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas” Dosara said.

“Zamfara government therefore condoled with the families of the victims of the bandits’ attacks and prayed for the repose of the departed souls. Government is also touched by the killings of some of our gallant security operatives who lost their lives in our defense. May their souls rest in peace. Government condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the speedy recovery of those wounded in the attacks” the state read.

SEN. YARI DONATES (13) TRUCKS OF MAIZE TO PEOPLE OF TALATAR MAFARA

Former Governor of Zamfara state and Senator representing Zamfara West, Hon. Dr. Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar (Shattiman Zamfara) has secured (13) trucks of Maize containing (3900) bags for distribution to his immediate community of Talatar Mafara.

The distribution is to be handled by the (11) man committee headed by Malam Hamza Abubakar.

A total of 68 communities consisting of 21,075 households will benefit with a total of 3900 bags of Maize.

According the chairman, the beneficiaries cut across religious devices as instructed by the donor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar.

According to the committee Chairman, former Governor Yari has considered the social condition of the people emanating from the removal of fuel subsidy by the current administration.

He assured that, the committee will be just and fair in the discharge of their duties.

He called on people to give them maximum support and cooperation in the discharged of their duty in order to achieve the desire success.

(31) PEOPLE DIES, (274) SUSTAIN INJURIES IN ADAMAWA ROAD CRASHES.

The Federal Road Safety Corp Adamawa state command has revealed that a total of (31) people died as a result of various road crashes within the state.

The statistics also showed that, a total of (274) people also sustained various degree of injuries as a result of the road crashes.

The Adamawa sector command also recorded (126) various road crashes involving (548) passengers within the period under review.

The statistics covered a period of January to July 2023.

The sector commandant of the state, Mr. Yelwa Dio when he interacted with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He attributed the road crashes to over-loading, over speeding and making telephone calls while driving.
