Zamfara state police command had announced the arrest of three suspected gun-runners who specialized in gun-running along Zamfara and Jos.
Police Public Relations Officer in the State SP Shehu Muhammad said, during the arrest an AK47 rifle and (100) round of AK47 live amunition were recovered from the suspects.
The name of the suspects are Abubakar Buda, Bitrus Bulus (Peter) and Weng Adamu.
“On the 11th October 2022 Police tactical operatives deployed along Gusau-Tsafe road acted on intelligent information that led to the interception of Gulf vehicle dark-arsh in color which was driven by one Abubakar Buda a (32) year old a native of Zuru local government area in Zamfara state”.
Shehu said one of the suspect was arrested while returning from Jos Plateau state along Kucheri where he was to deliver the arms and amunition to a notorious bandit leader called Chumo.
“On the spot search was conducted and the exhibit mentioned above were detected.
in the course of interrogation Shehu said, the suspect mentioned his collaborators to include Bitrus Bulus and Peter Weng Adamu both of them indigenes of Jos South local government in Plateau state.
The same suspect confessed that he has been supplying arms from one James in Jos now at large and deliver to the above named bandit leader.
According to SP Shehu the suspect and two others are undergoing interrogation and would soon be charge to court for prosecution.
