Suspected bandits riding on motorcycles invaded Gidan Adi village in Dankurmi community of Maru local government area of Zamfara state.
One of the popular vigilante leaders Alh Sule Gidan Adi and some of his group members were among those killed by the bandits during the attack.
A source said, they have also rustled large bulls of cow at the near by village of Gidan sitti village.
“The vigilante leader is a strong person and the bandits fear him, but this time around they came in large number and succeeded in killing him and two other members of his team”.
They have recklessly molested people and moved away with every valuable property they have found”.
The source added “we have called for reinforcement of the security agencies and so unfortunate for our situation military jet came to our village while the operation was ongoing but could not do anything to assist us, this is how the military continue roaming the sky of our villages and left without torching any of the bandits”.
Asked what was the condition of things since after the Sunday attack, the source added that “people were becoming jittery of the whole thing and majority are planning to move to safer places”.
Zamfara police spokesperson SP Shehu could not be reached for comment as at the time of filing this report.
