Zamfara state Deputy Governor Barr. Mahadi Aliyu Gusau has accused the state Chief Judge Mrs. Kulu Isah Aliyu of constituting a Kangaroo Panel of Investigation against him.
Mahadi Aliyu who addressed a Press Conference in Abuja on Sunday said the state Chief Judge and the Speaker of Zamfara State House of Assembly were served with a court order instructing parties to maintain existing state of affairs pending the determination of the matter.
He added that, his lawyer Emmanuel Okala (SAN) has written to the state Chief Judge and Speaker of the state house of assembly on the 4th of February 2022 reminding them of the order which was obtained through a case filled with suite number (FH/ABJ/CS/650/2021 PDP versus INEC and five others.
The Deputy Governor wondered why the state Chief Judge would take the bold step of going ahead to constitute what he termed as the “Kangaroo Panel” after being served with the court order.
“Appearing before the purported panel constituted by Zamfara State Chief Judge will amount to conferring legitimacy on an illegal body and violating the subsisting court order on maintenance of status quo”.
He noted that he expected her to take a lesson from the Chief Judge of Ondo State, who refused to proceed with the setting of the panel after being served with the court order.
The Deputy Governor maintained that since he has nothing to hide he would be ready to submit himself to an investigative panel but a panel that is transparent and not partisan.
He added that he will continue to be law-abiding citizens and await the outcome of the judicial process that are filed.
When asked whether the court order purportedly secured on Monday is declaratory, he said “the order is advisory and a sort of reminder to both the CJ and Speaker warning them not to do anything that would lead to breakdown of law and order in the state”.
