ZAMFARA GOVERNORSHIP TRIBUNAL CONDUCTS INAUGURAL SITTING IN SOKOTO

The Zamfara state Governorship election petition Tribunal sitting in Sokoto has held its inaugural sitting on Friday the 9th of June 2023.

The sitting was declared open by the Chairperson of the panel Mrs Justice Binta Fatima Zubairu

Other members of the panel includes, Okey I. Nwamoh (Member) and A.Y. Ajanaku Makun (Member).

Mr. Usman O. Sule (SAN) is leading six other Senior Advocates of Nigeria in defending the petition filed by Governor Bello Matawalle and APC.

Damion. D. Dodo (SAN) is leading other team of Lawyers to defend Dauda Lawal at the tribunal.

Another Senior Advocate of Nigeria Kamaldeen Ajibade who doubled as the PDP legal adviser is leading the legal team of the People’s Democratic Party.

Mr. Mudi Ishak Dikko (SAN) is representing INEC at the Tribunal and he leads other team of Lawyers on appearance.

At the opening of her inaugural address the Chairperson thanked all the stakeholders for the hospitality and assured that she will be just and fair to all parties in the suit.

She also urged the media practitioners covering the proceedings to conduct their work according to the ethics of the profession.

Speaking on behalf of the members of the Barr. D. D. Dodo (SAN) assured the Panel of justices that would cooperate and ensure that the proceedings are conducted without any hitch.

Earlier Chairman of the Nigerian Barr. Association Junaidi Abubakar re-affirmed the commitment of the parties in the suite in ensuring that counsels abide by the code of ethics of the profession.

SEN. YARI DONATES (13) TRUCKS OF MAIZE TO PEOPLE OF TALATAR MAFARA

Former Governor of Zamfara state and Senator representing Zamfara West, Hon. Dr. Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar (Shattiman Zamfara) has secured (13) trucks of Maize containing (3900) bags for distribution to his immediate community of Talatar Mafara.

The distribution is to be handled by the (11) man committee headed by Malam Hamza Abubakar.

A total of 68 communities consisting of 21,075 households will benefit with a total of 3900 bags of Maize.

According the chairman, the beneficiaries cut across religious devices as instructed by the donor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar.

According to the committee Chairman, former Governor Yari has considered the social condition of the people emanating from the removal of fuel subsidy by the current administration.

He assured that, the committee will be just and fair in the discharge of their duties.

He called on people to give them maximum support and cooperation in the discharged of their duty in order to achieve the desire success.

(31) PEOPLE DIES, (274) SUSTAIN INJURIES IN ADAMAWA ROAD CRASHES.

The Federal Road Safety Corp Adamawa state command has revealed that a total of (31) people died as a result of various road crashes within the state.

The statistics also showed that, a total of (274) people also sustained various degree of injuries as a result of the road crashes.

The Adamawa sector command also recorded (126) various road crashes involving (548) passengers within the period under review.

The statistics covered a period of January to July 2023.

The sector commandant of the state, Mr. Yelwa Dio when he interacted with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He attributed the road crashes to over-loading, over speeding and making telephone calls while driving.
