A political observer in Zamfara Mal. Jamilu Imam has warned the People’s Democratic Party from conducting a mini congress to temper with the delegates list already submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The politician who spoke to the Managing Editor of Thunder Blowers on Wednesday said the implications of tempering with the existing delegate list will be consequential to the validity of the nomination of all the candidates nominated by the PDP.
“The same delegates list was used in electing the party candidates across all the divides from state assembly to the Governor and even the president and if the PDP tempered with the list on the ground of its inability to meet with the constitutional requirements of section 50(3) of the PDP constitution, it means all those elected using the same list are no longer validly nominated”.
He instead urged the party to institute a reconciliation mechanism as an option and get the rest of the candidates to step down for whoever the party prefers to be its candidates.
He advised that the mini congress scheduled will be an exercise in futility since INEC may not likely accept a new delegate list as well as any fresh process that may come out of it.
